General Information: Software Viewer Downloads

Even if you do not have Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or other software, you can download a viewer.

A viewer is a software program that allows you to open a document in a different program format. Not all programs have the same formatting "rules"; therefore, not all programs can open files that have been saved in other programs. A viewer does not allow you to make changes, but it does allow you to see the document.

Below are some common viewers that you might find a use for. Click on the link and you will be taken to the download site. Follow the instructions on the site.

Microsoft Excel Viewer
Use this viewer to look at documents written in Microsoft Excel.

Microsoft Word Viewer
Use this viewer to look at documents written in Microsoft Word.

Microsoft Works Converter
This software allows those of you with Word but without Works to open Works files and save Word documents as Works documents. Works with Word 97.

Microsoft Works Converter
This software allows those of you with Word but without Works to open Works files and save Word documents as Works documents. Works with Word 97, 2000, 2002, Works 2000, 4.5, 4.X.

Adobe Acrobat Reader
This software allows you to open and read Adobe Acrobat files. These files are saved as .pdf.
